Kristy Jean Hulslander grew up in upstate New York dreaming of being rich and famous. The youngest of five children, Kristy had to fight to be noticed, which she didn’t mind, because she always loved being the center of attention. Her whole life, one thing was consistent…she wanted to be an actress. And not just any actress, she wanted to be a star. Acting in plays, since she was a child, Kristy didn’t receive much support from friends and family, who insisted that she figure out a “real job” she’d like to do when she grew up. But Kristy knew that acting was more than a hobby to her. Despite being discouraged, she managed to always have acting and performing in her routine. Through grade school and high school, Kristy acted in community and school plays, took tap, jazz, ballet, gymnastics and baton lessons, and also was captain of her cheerleading squad. Then, in college, she snuck a Performing Arts and Drama degree in alongside her other curriculum. Then, she got herself accepted into Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. All the while promising her parents that she would get a “real job” someday. Then, Kristy got cast in a feature film, and won a Best Actress Award at an international film festival, and got very favorable reviews in different newspapers all around the globe. Then, she got herself in a commercial, which also won awards. Then, she moved herself all the way across the country to Hollywood, CA. Now, those that discouraged her have become her biggest fans. And Kristy knows that their concern was only in her best interest. But as she always tried to explain to them, this was what she loved. Kristy knows that this profession is not an easy one. It can be unfair and even cruel. But, she just sighs and says, “I have no choice. It’s the only thing I want to do,” So far, Kristy has accomplished many small goals. She continues to work hard and dream big to achieve her lifelong dreams. |
